‘Vadgama to run 100 miles’
Srinagar: Marathon Coach Raj Vadgama is at the forefront of India’s running and fitness revolution.
A Mumbai-based marathoner and a sports enthusiast, Raj has now set his sight on completing 100 miles at “The Kargil International Marathon”, an initiative by Sarhad Foundation which is scheduled on15th July 2017.
Limca Book Record Holder and Founder of Xtreme Sports Raj, a globally acclaimed Indian runner has carved a niche for himself in the international fitness industry over the last three decades.
He will be running 100 miles to support the initiative by Sarhad Foundation, a Pune based NGO working for the people living in the border regions.
The foundation has adopted 150 children from Jammu-Kashmir including many Kargili boys and girls for their education. These students are living and studying in Pune at Sarhad.
The Kargil International Marathon also serves as a practise race for Raj to achieve his ultimate goal of running the LA Ultra. Raj’s next challenge includes running for LA Ultra – arguably the toughest ultra-marathon race in the world as the average altitude for running is about 15,000 feet and it crosses two passes of 18,000 k. By successfully completing LA Ultra, Raj will be the first Indian to have achieved this feet. Raj’s run at LA Ultra is powered by Edelweiss Group, India’s leading diversified financial services firm. Raj would be running the LA Ultra 222 Kms on 17th August 2017 in a span of 48 hours.
Commenting on this, Raj said, “I strongly believe when you’re determined to achieve your goal, you’re already half way there. I am looking forward to run at the Kargil International Marathon and completing 100 miles successfully.”
