Srinagar: Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) leader and Langate legislator Sheikh Abdul Rashid on Thursday lashed out at chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference president Omar Abdullah saying they have no right to offer tributes to the martyrs of 13 July 1931. “While Mehbooba Mufti’s coalition partners didn’t even recognise the sacrifices of 13 July, NC leadership is confused as it has been always silent to call Maharaja an autocrat and anti-Kashmiri,” Rasheed said addressing agathering of his supporters at Martyr’s graveyard. The AIP held ‘plebiscite march’ from Dastageer Sahab Shrine to Martyrs graveyard Naqashband Sahab Srinagar. The participants raised slogans seeking plebiscite and taking pledge to fulfill Martyrs mission.
“Mehbooba Mufti should resign if she has any moral dignity as it is for the third consecutive time that none from BJP appeared to pay tributes to these martyrs, the heroes of Jammu & Kashmir,” he said adding the BJP has yet again insulted their sacrifices and Mehbooba Mufti has nothing to defend.
Let Farooq Abdullah and all other mainstream parties understand that the mission of 13 July martyrs was never J&K becoming part of India and their mission will only be achieved if Kashmiris are given right to self-determination. Rasheed reiterated that resistance leadership including Geelani Sahab, Mirwaiz and Yaseen Malik are the true custodians of sacrifices and those who claim and believe J&K to be India’s integral part have no moral right to pay tributes to these martyrs. Rasheed condemned restriction on Hurriyat leaders and challenged the government to allow peaceful political activities.
