PAMPORE: A 22-year-old youth was killed and another person was injured when two vehicles collided on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that the accident took place when a load carrier locally known as Chotta hathi collided with a Santro Car No JK03B-8470 near Barsoo area of Awantipora.
Eyewitnesses said that the collision resulted into injuries of two person travelling in Santro car among whom a youngster was shifted to sub-district hospital Pampore for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Faizan Mushtaq son of Sheikh Mushtaq Hussain, a resident of Mirgund Anantnag. He was a student of XI standard.
The second wounded person was shifted to Public Health Centre Awantipora for treatment where from he was referred to Bones and Joint Surgery Hospital Srinagar for further treatment, doctors told Kashmir Reader.
Police Awantipora have registered a case FIR No 65 U/S 304A 279RPC in this regard.
