Budgam: Government forces cordoned off Mirpur village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district Thursday evening, sources said. The cordon was laid jointly by the Army and the Jammu Kashmir Police’s SOG. The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) comes day after the killing of 3 Hizb militants in Radbug area of Budgam. Local sources told Kashmir Reader that a house to house search was currently underway.
Police said that 53 RR along with SOG has cordoned off the village after inputs about the presence of militants.
Sources said that fearing protests in and around Mirpur forces have laid siege around a large area.
This is the first major crackdown or operation launched by government forces against militants in central Kashmir, sources said.
