After municipality denial, shopkeepers repair toilets on their own in Pampore complex

PAMPORE: The shopkeepers in SS Plaza Tanchibagh, built by Municipal Committee Pampore, repaired the toilets in the complex out of their pockets after the municipal committee declined the request, shopkeepers told Kashmir Reader.
The shopkeepers alleged that after observing the lackadaisical approach of municipal authorities the shopkeepers took the initiative and collected funds for repairing the toilets.
They added that instead of lauding the effort, the municipal committee made them to pay a fee of 1500 rupees each.
The complex houses more than 100 shops.
“We pay heavy sums of money as rent but it was ironical that the Municipal authorities did not bother to do the necessary repairs,” a shopkeeper said.
