 3 local militants believed to be trapped

BUDGAM: An encounter broke out between government forces and militants in Redbugh area of Magam in Budgam district late Tuesday evening.
After inputs of presence of militants, army and special operation group (SOG) of JK Police Srinagar and Budgam jointly cordoned off the village where militants were hiding.
A senior police official told Kashmir Reader that the militants opened fire at the search party of army and SOG, triggering a gun fight.
He said that three militants, all of them Kashmiris, are believed to be trapped.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Tejinder Singh confirmed that a gunfight was on between militants and government forces.
There was no official confirmation on the identity of militants holed up inside in a residential house. Sources said that one of the three militants is believed to be from Srinagar’s Hyderpora area.
If true, he will be the first militant from the city to be killed this year. Last year, an alleged militant from Bemina area of Srinagar was killed by forces on the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Ramban.
“A gunfight has started and there are no injuries, no causalities so far,” DySP Operations Budgam, Parupkar Singh, told Kashmir Reader.
