Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in the south town of Shopian on Tuesday against the alleged highhandedness of government forces.
Shopian observed shutdown on the fifth consecutive day since Friday last.
Locals alleged that government forces went berserk in Kannipora and Reshi Mohalla areas of the town on two consecutive nights damaging private property worth lakhs.
They said that force’s alleged highhandedness led to massive protests in the town yesterday. 15 people sustained injuries in force’s actions on protesters, they said.
Meanwhile, all shops and business establishments remained closed in the town.
