Kashmir civil society groups stage protest against Anantnag attack

Srinagar: Kashmir civil society groups Tuesday staged a sit-in at the heart of Srinagar to protest the killing of seven Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag.
Human rights activist Khurram Parvez said in a Facebook post that the protest was being organised to show solidarity with those killed and demand a credible investigation into the deadly attack.
“Let us unambiguously and emphatically show solidarity towards those killed and demand a credible investigation against this and all other crimes perpetrated in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The sit-in was organised at at Pratap Park in Lal Chowk area of the city. It was attended by students, activists, businessmen and professionals.
Meanwhile, a human rights group has filed a petition in the Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), demanding an investigation into yesterday’s attack on the pilgrims.
“We have filed a petition before SHRC demanding it to investigate the attack on the Amarnath pilgrims,” Chairman International Forum for Justice and Protection for Human Rights Mohammad Ahsan Antoo told PTI. However, the SHRC is yet to admit his petition.

    This is barbaric act, Kashmiris hate such inhuman acts and demanding INT probe under UN-While here we question to civil society groups why they hidden themselves and kept silent when Kashmiris were in blood bath from July 8, 2016–As their protest voice was need of hour:
