Srinagar: Army claimed to have foiled a major infiltration bid by killing three militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowgam village of Kupwara district on Monday.
Brigadier Neeraj Kumar Sonie of army’s 17-brigade in Nowgam told reporters that it took army 18 hours to conduct the operation. He said three militants were killed in the gunfight.
The army claimed to have recovered cache of arms and war like stores from the possession of slain militants.
“This is the fourth infiltration bid successfully foiled by the army along the LoC in the Nowgam sector in last two months,” Brig-Sonie said. He said that army would continue to keep tight vigil along the LoC to foil such attempts in future.
