Protests on Kashmir highway after CRPF soldiers beat driver

Srinagar: Protests led to a massive traffic jam on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Pantha Chowk after CRPF personnel allegedly beat a local driver, reports said on Monday.
As per reports the CRPF personnel deployed on the highway signalled a vehicle to stop however the driver stopped a few metres ahead which infuriated the forces personnel and they allegedly beat him ruthlessly.
Seeing the driver beaten by CRPF, dozens of drivers and passengers raised their voice resulting in a massive traffic jam in the area.
The drivers and passengers raised slogans against the alleged highhandedness of CRPF men, witnesses said.
Officials of police were busy in managing the traffic jam to make way for an army convoy stuck in the jam when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, sources said that the driver beaten by the CRPF men has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, a resident of Pampore and he has been shifted to SMHS.
