SRINAGAR: MLA Langate Abdul Rashid Sheikh Sunday said that police and intelligence agencies have booked dozens of youth from Nowhatta and surrounding area in the case of DSP Ayub Pandit’s lynching, “after failing to crack the real story behind the shameful tragic incident”.
Seeking unconditional release of the “innocent youth”, Rashid said, “Police force is trying to give cover to its negligence that led to the unfortunate incident. Rather accepting its professional lapses and guilt, they picked up youth most of whom are innocent and beat them to pulp, torture them and are constantly humiliating their families.”
Rashid also condemned summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s relatives by NIA to Delhi and lashed out at Indian media for indulging in character assassination campaign of UJC chief Syed Salahudeen’s family.
