Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam town Monday after scores of people held demonstrations against fresh police raids and arrests, sources said.
Local sources said that people of Naikpora, Kulgam hit the streets and raised slogans against what they called highhandedness of the men in uniform.
The protesters alleged that police raided many houses in the area during night and arrested six youth from their residences. They also alleged police ransacked houses during nocturnal raids.
The protesters were demanding immediate release of the arrested.
