40 tourists rescued from Dal lake as strong winds lash JK

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police rescued forty tourists caught in strong winds during shikara rides in Dal Lake.
The incident took place late Wednesday evening when strong winds swept across Kashmir valley, Superintendent of Police (SP), East Zone Srinagar, Sheikh Faisal told PTI.
He said 25 tourists were taking shikara rides in the lake when strong winds swept the area. Fifteen others were rescued from their houseboats.
The SP said that shikara associations have been advised not to allow any movement of shikaras inside the lake during inclement weather.
He added that motor boats of Jammu and Kashmir police have been kept ready in case of an emergency.
