Bus driver convicted for killing pedestrian

Srinagar: A court in south Kashmir convicted a man involved in hit and run case on National Highway in Awantipora. The court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Awantipora Fozia Paulafter hearing Khurshid Ahmad, Prosecuting Officer for the state and counsel convicted a person identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir a resident of Nand Marg Tehsil Damhal Hanjipora for causing death of a pedestrian namely Ali Mohammad Lone son of Qadir Lone resident of Chersoo for rash and negligent driving. The convict was driving a passenger bus and had hit the said person on June 4, 2008 at Chersoo. The driver did not possess driving license. He has been sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of two years and a fine of Rs 5000 for the commission of offence punishable under section 304-A/RPC.
