Motorcyclist hit by army vehicle succumbs

Baramulla: A motorcyclist who was hit and injured by an army vehicle last week succumbed to his injuries at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Wednesday evening. Locals of the area said that Mohammad Asif lone son of Khazir Mohammad Lone of Nadihal Rafiabad and his friend were riding a motorcycle when they were hit by an army vehicle on Baramulla Kupwara road. The duo was shifted to SKIMS for treatment where Asif succumbed on Wednesday. When Asif’s body was carried to his native village, hundreds of people including women and children took to streets and staged protests against the army. The police have already registered FIR against the army driver. The locals were demanding arrest of the driver. Hundreds of villagers from the adjoining villages attended the funeral prayers of the deceased youngster.
