Clashes erupt in Kashmir after Eid prayers, several injured

Srinagar: Kashmir witnessed clashes between government forces and civilians protesters on Monday with reports of stone pelting coming in from many areas of the Valley, reports said.

According to reports around 20 civilians and five policemen were injured in the clashes which erupted soon after the Eid prayers.

Clashes erupted in the south Kashmir town of Anantnag after protesters took on forces in Janglat Mandi area immediately after Eid prayers.

The clashes, with young men hurling stones at forces, then spread to adjoining Achabal area in Anantnag district.

Similar Street fighting also broke out in Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama towns in southern Kashmir. Similar clashes were reported from north Kashmir’s Sopore and Pattan towns too.

Police had to fire tear gas shells in Srinagar, where two Central Reserve Police Force soldiers suffered injuries after being hit by stones.
