Geelani, UJC extend Eid greetings

Appeal people to remember orphans and destitute

Srinagar: Extending his heartfelt Eid greetings to the Muslim Ummah, senior resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani appealed people of state to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with simplicity and austerity and asked affluent families to take care of the needy, orphans, widows, elderly and families of martyrs.
Geelani said that Eid is an occasion of happiness and celebration, “however Eid of suppressed nations is when they achieve complete freedom enforced occupation.”
Assuring people of state Geelani said, “Dawn of freedom will rise and we will emerge as a free nation.”
United Jihad Council (UJC) also extended Eid greetings to the Muslims especially the people of Kashmir.
In a statement e-mailed to KNS, the militant conglomerate chief, Syed Salah-ud-din extended Eid greetings to the people of Kashmir.
“I extend Eid greetings to the mothers who sacrificed their sons, women who sacrificed their husbands and the prisoners including young old, women who are languishing in jails in Kashmir,” he said.
He added that in the month of Ramadhan, people in Kashmir were “harassed by the forces by crackdowns and thrashing. The people bore the brunt in this holiest month.”
“Kashmiris will celebrate their Eid when the Indian occupation will end there,” he said.
He also appealed people to remember families of martyrs, injured, orphans, and destitute on this Eid.
Appealing people to celebrate the Eid with austerity and simplicity and according to the Islamic principles, Geelani appealed people to stay away from un-Islamic activities.
Geelani expressed his concern over growing conflict and disunity, chaos, uncertainty, infighting and strife torn situations among Muslim Ummah and said that the gracious occasion of Eid provides a golden opportunity to overcome this miserable situation.
“Let us forget about the differences, forge unity and jointly celebrate this auspicious festival,” Geelani said.
