Budgam: A government vehicle was torched by an angry mob in central Kashmir’s Budgam district after it crushed a ten-year-old girl to death on Friday.
Villagers told Kashmir Reader that a government vehicle belonging to Rural Development Department hit a minor girl, Seerat Jan, daughter of Abdul Hamid Reshi, at Nasrullahpora village.
The girl, they said, died on spot.
As the word of the killing spread, people assembled at the spot of the accident and torched the vehicle, said an eyewitness.
The crowd didn’t even allow fire fighters to douse the fire until the vehicle turned into ashes. An official from Budgam police station said that police has registered a case in this regard.
