‘Kashmir has been turned into a killing field’
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, on Friday said that Kashmir had been turned into a “killing field” where “Indian occupational forces are killing at will”. He said United Nations as a responsible forum has to rise above its lip services and play its role in resolving long pending disputes like Kashmir and Palestine.
Malik, according to a statement issued by front, gave a slip to police and reached Chrar-I-Shareef where he addressed a gathering. Malik, the statement said, had to go underground since Thursday as police were in pursuit to arrest him and bar him from going to Chrar-i-Shahreef. Police has arrested JKLF vice chairman, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, and shifted him to police station Parimpora. Malik, however, reached Chrar-i-Shareef during night hours and observed Shab-i-Qader at the famous shrine, the statement said.
Addressing the gathering after Friday prayers, Malik said that none among the human communities seemed to feel the pain of Kashmiri people. However, he said that “tyrants and their stooges should remember that according to the law of retribution they are bound to taste the fruits of their crimes.”
Malik said that peace and stability were subservient to the resolution of disputes as peace could not be established in vacuum. “United Nations as a responsible forum has to rise above its lip servicing and play its role in resolving long pending disputes like Kashmir and Palestine,” he said.
JKLF chairman said that he had to go into hiding because the rulers had almost imposed a martial law in Kashmir where no political or religious activity was allowed. “Today is Jumat-ul-vada and muslims are duty bound to reach Jamia Masjid and other bigger places of worship and participate in Friday prayers, but PDP led regime (is) implementing RSS agenda has chosen to ban even Friday congregations and has imposed curfew in most parts of Kashmir including Jamia masjid Srinagar.”
He said that curfew was “enough evidence” of PDP led ruling regime being “anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmir”.
“Kashmir has been turned into a killing field where young and old are being killed with impunity by occupational forces and no one among the human community seem to feel any regret on this killing spree,” he said. “Indian occupation using its military and police might first unleash an ugly oppression against Kashmiri youth who were in peaceful political struggle.”
