12 civilians injured in clashes in Pulwama

Srinagar: A civilian was killed and at least 12 people injured when clashes erupted between government forces and protesters at Kakapora and Awantipora after three LeT militants were killed in a gunfight in south Kashmir on Thursday, reports said.
Some of the injured have been shifted to Srinagar hospitals, sources said.
The slain civilian has benn identified as Tawseef Ahmad of Tengpuna in Pulwama.
The clashes erupted after three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants – Majid Mir, Shariq Ahmad and Irshad Ahmad – were killed in an encounter with forces in Kakapora. An Army Major was injured in the fierce exchange of gunfire.
Forces had to resort to tear gas shelling and aerial firing after people assembled in Kakapora to attend the funeral of the slain militants. They clashes with forces.
Authorities have suspended internet services in south Kashmir areas and closed colleges and schools in Pulwama district to avoid protests.
