Gunfight underway in north Kashmir’s Sopore

Srinagar: An encounter between militants and government forces in north Kashmir’s Sopore area is underway on Wednesday.
As per reports two local militants are trapped in Pazalpora area some ten Kms away from the northern apple town.
The area was cordoned off late last evening and the operation was suspended for the night, police sources said adding today morning a contact with the trapped militants was established which was followed by gunfight.
The internet service around the vicinity has been temporarily suspended, sources said.
They said a joint team of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and CRPF are busy in an operation in Pazalpora area of Sopore.
Meanwhile, clashes between protesters and forces have erupted in the Seelu area not far from the encounter site. Forces are firing tear smoke shells on protesters who are pelting rocks on them and are trying to reach the site, sources said.
