Police refutes Freedom Party statement

Srinagar: Police on Sunday refuted the news that some relatives of pro-freedom leader Shabir Shah got injured after they were hit by pellets at Bijbehara, Anantnag.
“District police authorities Anantnag have informed that no such incident has happened in Bijbehara. No tear smoke or pellet was fired in Bijbehara today it has informed further,” a police statement said.
Earlier, a Freedom Party spokesman issued a statement saying police and paramilitary force deliberately targeted and fired pellets upon the brother and nephew of senior Hurriyat leader and chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah near Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to party spokesperson, Syed Shah who is the brother of Shabir Shah and his son Arshid Shah were targeted by police and paramilitary force and fired several rounds of pellets on their vehicle while they were on way to Srinagar.
The duo was shifted to a hospital for the treatment, the spokesman said.
