Kullan residents block highway for over erratic power supply

Gund: Inhabitants of Kullan village in Ganderbal district blocked Srinagar-Leh higway at Kullan staging protests against Power department for failing to replace a damaged power transformer at the village.
The protesters chanted slogans against PDD and blocked the highway leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded over two hours.
The protestors said that they approached the PDD authorities several times but got “nothing except assurances and promises”.
“The authorities must not ignore our plight and should install our area transformer at earliest so that we can feel a sigh of relief in this month of Ramadan,” a protestor said.
They said that due to non-availability of power the students were especially facing the brunt as the examination were going on.
Later, civil administration and a police team reached the spot and pacify the protesters. Executive Engineer, PDD Ganderbal, Javaid Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the transformer would be replaced as early as possible
“I have deputed AEE in area, within few days their demands will be redressed and replacement of transformer will be made as early as possible,” Ahmad said
