20 injured as Army allegedly thrash people in Shopian village

Shopian: At least twenty persons were injured after Army personnel and SOG men allegedly vandalize a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district during night, beat people ruthlessly and ransacked residential houses, reports said on Saturday.
Locals of Turkewangam village told Kashmir Reader that army and SOG men started smashing windows of their houses at midnight and barged into their houses.
“They (army men) beat whosoever came in their way,” said a middle aged Turkewangam resident who did not want to be named. He added that even young girls and old women were thrashed.
Army and SOG men injured at least twenty persons who are being treated at different hospitals, sources said adding some of them with severe injuries have been referred to Srinagar hospitals.
Government forces also damaged properties in the village, locals alleged.
Pertinently, this is the second such incident in Turkewangam village of Shopian district in last few days.
