Clashes erupt in north Kashmir’s Sopore

Sopore: Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces in old area of Sopore town in north Kashmir soon after Friday congregational prayers, sources said.
The protesters mostly youth took out a rally in old Jamia area and shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. They also pelted stones on forces who retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells to disperse the protesting youth.
Following the clashes, old town Sopore witnessed shutdown, while the other areas stayed normal.
Pertinently, pro-freedom leaders had called for protests after weekly congregational prayers against arrests and alleged ransacking at the hands of forces.
