Srinagar: JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has paid tributes to ‘Muhajir-i-Millat’ Mirwaiz Muhammad Yousuf Shah. Police, however, prevented Malik from attending a memorial meeting for Shah at Aali Masjid.
“We should safeguard and uphold our unity,” Malik said. “Breaking it is the main objective of India and its stooges,” Malik told media persons before his arrest from JKLF office at Abiguzar Srinagar. Police arrested malik when he was about to leave for Aali Masjid to attend the memorial meeting. Malik is held to police station Kothibagh, a statement issued by the front said here.
Talking to media persons, Malik said, “Every peaceful political activity in Kashmir has been banned by so-called biggest democracy and this suppression is taking extremely ugly turn as condolence meetings, social programs and even personal meetings between two people are being halted and barred by police”.
He said that “exemplary unity” between pro-freedom leadership had “unnerved Indian rulers and their Kashmiri stooges” who were “desperately trying to break this unity”.
“This is why Indian rulers and their occupational authorities don’t allow any meeting between the leadership and every time there is a program in which these leaders can meet, (it) is barred and leadership is arrested.”
“It is our moral and national duty to remain vigilant and safeguard this unity at every cost,” Malik said.
Paying rich tributes to Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah, JKLF chairman said that Shah was a great scholar, social and political leader who “led this nation on every front” and till his last breath “remained steadfast for the cause of Kashmiris”.
