SRINAGAR: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Saturday said that Gulzar Ahmad Wani’s acquittal after 16 years of incarceration was a “blot on the face of Indian judiciary”.
Wani, released last month, was a PhD scholar when he was jailed. Malik along with other party leaders visited Wani’s residence at Tapper, Pattan and felicitated him on his release.
Malik, in a statement issued here on Saturday, said the “discriminatory” attitude of Indian rulers, police and judiciary against Kashmiris amounts to “state-sponsored terrorism” unleashed against “a tiny nation”.
Paying tributes to Wani for his dedication and resilience, JKLF chairman said, “The ordeal he (Wani) has gone through at the hands of Indians is a testimony to the fact that for India, every Kashmiri is an enemy who deserves torture and jail.”
As Muslims, Malik said, it is a belief that, according to the law of retribution, every tyrant and oppressor will have to pay for their crimes against humanity and the last victory belonged to the oppressed.
Taking a dig on J&K’s government, JKLF chairman said that these “shameless” rulers have ruined the careers of our students and, on daily basis, various colleges and schools were being shut down in the name of law and order.
“We want to ask these so-called rulers where (is) their so-called love for students and uplifting education that they were displaying while conducting forced examinations in November last year and were blaming resistance camp for ruining the education and careers of the new generation.
“The fact of the matter is that India and its stooges in Jammu Kashmir are the enemies of Kashmir and Kashmiris and whenever anyone tries to raise his or her voice against illegal occupation, these tyrants waste no time to inflict a collective punishment to all,” Malik said.
