Bailable warrant against investigating officer
SRINAGAR: A court hearing the murder case of British national, Sara Elizabeth Rose, on Thursday directed SHO Ram Munshi Bagh to “immediately” produce witnesses and also issued a bailable warrant against investigating officer Nazir Ahmed.
Direction was also passed to two doctors – Shah Mohmor and Nahida Ali – to appear before the court on the next hearing.
Ahmed is serving as SHO Qazigund. He failed to produce himself before the court on Thursday’s hearing. The court during previous hearing had passed directions to the investigating officer to be present in the court.
Dutchman Richard de Wit, accused for the murder, complained to the court that he had become physically weak and wanted his money. The in charge of Malkhana, meanwhile, has submitted a report regarding the cash retrieved after the floods and has also given details of the cash received before floods.
The money which de Wit is enquiring about is in the order of few lakhs of rupees that went missing during the 2014 floods. The court had in a previous hearing directed the Malkhana in-charge to submit full details of the cash retrieved after the 2014 floods receded.
The court had already allowed de Wit to plead his case. Rose was found dead on a houseboat in Dal Lake on April 6, 2013. As per the charge sheet filed by police, de Wit murdered the fellow traveler inside the houseboat where the two were staying and he fled from the scene. He was arrested from Qazigund while trying to escape, says the charge sheet.
