Resistance leaders call for shutdown on Friday

Srinagar: Joint resistance leadership comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik Wednesday called for a complete shutdown and protests on Friday.
Joint leadership said in a statement that “infamous cordon and search operation (CASO) has resulted in another cold blooded murder of a budding 19 year old student from Shopian degree College Adil Ahmed Magray of Ganapora Shopian.”
Joint resistance leadership said that to express people’s resentment and indignation against the brutal killing of young Adil Ahmed Magray by the Indian forces and to express complete solidarity with the bereaved family, complete strike will be observed on Friday the 9th of June across the valley and after Friday prayers peaceful protest will be held across the valley against the killing.
“People from all over south Kashmir will move towards Shopian to the residence of Shaheed Adil to express solidarity with the bereaved family,” the leaders said in the statement.
“The menace of CASO launched by the Indian state forces against the people of Kashmir and continued even in the holy month of Ramadan, resulting in the killing of scores of young boys and injuring of hundreds so far, at the hands of Indian forces, reflect the level of hostility by the Indian state towards the people of Kashmir, especially the youth and students who are being punished in every way for seeking their right to decide their destiny as guaranteed by the UN resolutions and the Indian leadership,” the resistance leaders said.
