Shopian:  Kashmir Reader correspondent Raashid Hassan Dar was threatened by some people undertaking unauthorised constructions in Shopian town.
Raashid was working on a story about unauthorized constructions in the town when he came across some under-construction shops at Goal Chowk. The people raising the constructions told Raashid that they had applied for permissions but were were yet to receive receipts from municipal committee.
They had, however, completed almost 50 percent of the work. While talking to Raashid, they called one
Masood Ahmad, who identified himself as Assistant Khalifa-warzi officer, and told Raashid that permission was under process.
On being asked how the people had started raising the shops, Masood said that while he had not permitted them but their head assistant from municipal committee had asked them to start their work.
On reaching home, Raashid received a call from phone no 7006655681, with the caller threatening and abusing him. The caller described himself as the SO to IGP Kashmir, and told Raashid that some guy ‘Hurairah’ and other agencies was after him now.
Raashid called senior superintendent of police Shopian, S A Dinker, who assured action against the caller. Masood Ahmad of municipal committee Shopian also said that MLA Shopian had intervened in the case, to allow the constructions.
