Clashes erupt in Anantnag town

Srinagar: Government forces on Friday resorted to tear smoke shelling against hundreds of protesters raising slogans favouring slain Hizb commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat in Anantnag town.
Sabzar and his associate Faizan Muzaffar were killed on May 28 in a gunfight at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The protesters who started raising pro-freedom and anti India slogans soon after the congregational prayers in Reshi Bazar and Lal Chowk areas of the south Kashmir town also pelted stones on forces, local sources said.
They said that protesters started marching amidst slogans favouring Sabzar and other militants however forces intercepted the stone pelting protesters and retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.
