SRINAGAR: Reacting over the recent statement of Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat that ‘this is a proxy war and it is played in a dirty way’, Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday said he (Rawat) is a man of Jan Sangh ideology and his statement illustrates his “criminal mentality”.
In a statement issued here, Geelani while referring to honouring of Army’s Major Gogoi who used human as a shield and General Rawat’s explanation said the tall claims of Indian leadership about being a largest democracy is “nothing but hoax” as India’s political and army leadership are following “fascist mindset”.
“Their statements expose their intentions and it testifies our claim that they are giving free licence to their forces against innocent Kashmiri people and assuring full backing and impunity from any accountability for carrying genocide in the state,” he said.
Geelani while commenting over the statement of Venkaiah Naidu said Indian army and political leadership want to kill every soul in Jammu Kashmir. He said for the last seven decades, Kashmiris have time and again raised voice and expressed concern about the “sinister plans” of Indian leadership in Kashmir. “However, no serious steps were taken by the international community whose continuous silence encouraged these forces,” he said.
The Hurriyat chairman said “all these cold-hearted devices and callous approach (of New Delhi) won’t make us to budge nor will we surrender (but) despite all odds (we) would pursue our mission of freedom”.
Geelani said history is witness that every arrogant power has to go and the lesser or little-known powers make history and emerge as victorious.
