Saba’s 5 wkt haul guide DPS Budgam to title triumph
SRINAGAR: Saba’s five wicket haul helped Delhi Public School Budgam to down JK Public School by six wickets in the summit clash of U-17 Girls Inter-School Cricket tournament played DPS Budgam ground on Friday.
Chasing the target of 130 runs the chase turned out to be a cakewalk for DPS Budgam with openers Atufa Fayaz and Shah Anida provided a blistering start stitching a 57 run stand for the first wicket their good work was carried forward by the middle order as DPS eves achieved the target with consummate ease, in just 9.5 overs.
Earlier batting first after winning the toss JK Public School put a total of 129 runs on the board in their allotted 12 over quota. For DPS Budgam Saba was the pick of the bowlers claiming five wicket haul upfront.
Principal DPS Budgam Mehfooz Aslam was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Head Mistress Shobna Sirohi was the Guest of Honour and both gave away the trophies to the winner and Runner up teams.
Speaking on the award ceremony Principal Aslam impressed upon the students to participate in the games and sports voluntarily to improve health and give vent to their energies thereby develop their personalities.
