Baramulla: The street lights installed by the local municipal committee in Pattan town of north Kashmir went dysfunctional a week after the installation causing severe public resentment.
Locals said that last week municipal committee Pattan installed street lights in the town for illumination. However half of the installed lights went dysfunctional indicating their poor quality.
“We are at odds to understand as to how the lights stopped working soon after their installation. The dark streets are a cause of worry for the elderly people,” a local resident Irshad Ahmad said.
Locals said the installation of substandard lights requires thorough probe. “Every year they (authorities) install lights but within few days majority of them become dysfunctional. This clearly shows the substandard material is used in these lights”, Javid Ahmad, another resident of main town Pattan.
