Shopian: A civilian was injured when unidentified persons hurled a grenade at a police post of the Special Operations Group (SOG) at Imam Sahib, some nine kilometres from the district headquarters Shopian, on Wednesday afternoon. Local sources said that the grenade exploded on the road outside the police post.
Medical Superintendent of Shopian district hospital told Kashmir Reader that one person identified as Ishfaq Rasheed, son of Abdul Rasheed, resident of Weyen Imam Sahib, was admitted to the hospital and is under treatment. “The injured person is stable. He has multiple injuries on his body,” he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Shopian, S A Dinka told Kashmir Reader that some unknown persons lobbed a grenade at the police post and the grenade exploded outside on the Imam Sahib-Kulgam road. “Some persons were injured in this Incident and they are stable,” he said.
Dinka added that earlier some unarmed persons tried to snatch the service refile of a bank security guard. The persons threw chilly powder in the guard’s eyes but the weapon-snatching bid was foiled with the intervention of other guards who were present there.
