SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar on Wednesday directed prosecution and defense counsel to be present at 10 am at sadder court Lal Chowk to check list of items recovered by police in Asrar murder case.
The court also passed direction to investigating officer Muzaffar Ahmed to exhibit documental proof of the items recovered and direction was passed to Superintendent Central Jail to bring accused Imran Aslam Baba and Asim Ali Waida to verify the items recovered by police.
The court also issued directions to the police to present Waida and the co-accused Imran Islam Baba, both residents of Illahi Bagh on next hearing. The duo is lodged in central jail Srinagar from 2009 with charges of murdering their friend Asrar Mushtaq Dar of Maisuma in July 2009.
As per case diary, Asrar had gone missing from his residence on July 3, 2009 and his body was found four days later at Malkhah road near Kathi Darwaza in old Srinagar.
Subsequently, police registered a case (FIR No. 54/2009 U/S 302 RPC) in police station Rainawari and subsequently arrested Baba and Waida. According to the police, chatting online with a Delhi based girl was the main reason for the murder. Baba was jealous of Asrar’s friendship with the girl on social networking site Orkut.
On July 3, 2009, police said, Dar invited Baba to his residence at Illahibagh and in a fit of rage smashed his head with an iron rod. Later they threw the body at Malkhah.Asrar’s murder had sparked massive protests and shutdown in Maisuma for three days before police
