Army chief to brief Defence Minister on Kashmir situation

Srinagar: The Indian Army chief, Bipin Rawat is scheduled to meet Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and brief him about the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir, sources said on Thursday.
General Rawat is expected to brief Jaitley about the Indian Army’s course of action in Kashmir over the next few days, media reports said.
Over the past few days, there have been countless cross border firing incidents in the Valley, leading to the loss of several lives, in addition to the mass evacuation of people from 26 villages in the frontier regions of the Line of Control (LoC).
At least 1,700 people have had to take refuge in bunkers and abandon their homes, which have been under constant mortar fire emanating from across the border.
