Department failed to repair transformer: Villagers
Sopore: Residents of Botingoo village on Saturday voiced their strong protest against the non-availability of the electricity in their village for the past three months. They allege that Power Development Department has not repaired the electric transformer in the village.
The demonstrators were seen chanting slogans against Power Development Department, demanding immediate restoration of power supply.
“One month ago, we went to the concerned authorities to repair the damaged transformer, but they didn’t do anything,” Mushtaq Koul, a resident of Botingoo told Kashmir Reader.
The protesters alleged that department was adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformer.
A PDD official, Nazir Ahmad, told Kashmir Reader that it is due to the overload in the area that the transformer suffered a snag again and again. “We have informed higher authorities about installing one more transformer in their area. Work is going on, it will be done very soon,” he said.
