Baramulla: The Power Development Department installed a new electric transformer in ward number 4 of Kharmohalla Chadnil in Tangmarg two weeks ago. Ironically, the department had not provided the required transmission lines for supply of electricity to this north Kashmir village.
Though the villagers attempted to restore electricity, the unavailability of poles and wire had failed these efforts.
Residents alleged that PDD officials had, for many days, been ignoring people’s pleas to provide the supply lines and curtail the unscheduled power cuts. “After lot of struggled the PDD installed a new electric transformer for our area, but the officials do not sanction us wire and poles,” Fayaz Ahmad, a villager said. The officials of the PDD could not be reached for comment.
