Driver, conductor electrocuted in Tral

5 PDD officials suspended
TRAL: A mini-bus driver and a his assistant washing their vehicle died after a high tension wire fell on them in Batgund area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday evening.
The deceased were identified as Adil Ahmed Lone (driver) and Ajaz Ahmad Malik (conductor) both residents of Batgund.
Both were taken to Sub district Hospital Tral where doctors declared them dead. Local residents blamed the deaths on “negligence” of PDD officials.
“The tragedy happened due to the negligence of PDD officials. The matter should be probed and the officials found negligent be punished,” a local resident told Kashmir Reader.
Following the incident sub-divisional magistrate Tral, Riyaz Ahmad Malik, placed two engineers and other PDD staff under suspension.
“I have suspended AEE, concerned JE, Inspector concerned, besides two linemen, and inquiry has been initiated into the incident,” Malik told Kashmir Reader.
AEE Farooq Ahmad Tak, Sub Division Awantipora; JE Fayaz Ahmad Bhat Sub Division Awantipora; field Inspector Abdul Rahman Pandit; and two line men Shabir Ahmad Dar and Tariq Ahmad Shah, were suspended by the SDM.
