Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Thursday said that slapping of PSA on party’s chairperson Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi and her close aide Fahmeeda Sofi and shifting them to Jammu’s Amphalla jail was nothing but a conspiracy to “murder” Aasiyeh.
“Aasiyeh is critically ill. Making her travel through mountainous roads would turn detrimental to her already ailing health conditions. Besides, the medical facilities in Amphalla jail are next to nothing,” a statement of DeM said.
A spokesperson of the outfit said that the “rightwing extremist Hindus in Jammu division have created an atmosphere of extreme hate against Kashmiris”.
“At the time DC Srinagar had signed the Public Safety Act, it had ordered that they be lodged in Baramulla sub-Jail. However, later the home department headed by the puppet Mehbooba (Mufti) send them to Kot Balwal jail,” the spokesperson added.
Later, again the order was “tampered” and instead of Kot Balwal, they were shifted to Amphala  jail, it added.
DeM general secretary Nahida Nasreen appealed the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch Asia, International organizations and other rights groups to act and ensure immediate release of Aasiyeh
DeM chief and her aide were arrested on April 26 and despite being bailed by a court the duo was kept in police custody, Nasreen said.
