Court orders withholding Sopore SHO’s salary
SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar issued directions to deputy inspector general of police (north Kashmir range) to withhold salary of Station Hoiuse Officer (SHO) of Sopore police station till the time he executes warrants in a murder case against the witnesses and produces them before the court on next hearing.
Principal district and sessions Judge, Rashid Ali Dar passed directions to DIG north to hold an enquiry against SHO Sopore as to why he has been unable to produce the witnesses before the court though court has many times issued warrants through him to the witnesses.
The court further directed to stop the salary of the SHO till the time he produces witnesses in the court.
The case diary pertains to the FIR no. 48/2013 under section 302 RPC, 7/27 Arms act lodged at Police station Sopore against accused Hafiz Naveed Baloch alias Fahadullah of Shujabad Multan Pakistan and Feroze Ahmed Dar of Alsafa Colony Sopore of killing Suhail Ahmed Sofi of Doabgah Sopore on March 19,2013.
As per police investigation, on March 19, 2013 one youth Suhail Ahmed Sofi was sitting with another youth Ghulam Hyder in a ground near local mosque when suddenly some militants opened fire on him. He, however, escaped and hid himself in the Hamam of the mosque. One militant chased him and entered the mosque and fired the bullets to kill him.
During the course of investigation, one foreign militant was arrested in connection with the killing. On his instance, another suspect namely Feroz Ahmed Dar was arrested and a Chinese pistol with magazine was recovered from him. During questioning militant Fahadullah confessed that he has handed over Chinese pistol to his close associate Feroz Ahmed Dar who killed Suhail Ahmed Sofi with this pistol. The duo is lodged at central Jail Srinagar from 2013.
This case has been transferred from district court Baramulla to district court Srinagar on March 30, 2016.
