Police paste posters of militants, offers reward

SHOPIAN: Police on Friday put up posters of three militants in Shopian, claiming they were involved in the killing of Lieutenant Umar Fayaz, the young army officer of Sudsona village of district Kulgam. The posters also mention a reward for persons providing information about these three militants.
Police claimed that three militants were involved in the abduction and killing of Umar Fayaz in Hermain village of Shopian. They said that the militants were from two militant outfits, one the Hizbul Mujahideen and the other the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
All three militants, according to the posters, are residents of district Shopian. The posters further say that two militants are residents of Paderpora village and the third is from Mantribug village. The posters also mention the FIRs lodged in this case as “case FIR number 94/2017 U/S 302, 364. RPC 7/27 A ACT 16 ULA (P) ACT”.
Lt Umar was abducted on Tuesday evening when he was at the wedding of his cousin in Hermain village in Shopian. His bullet-riddled body was later found on Wednesday morning.
