SRINAGAR: The merit list of class 12th was declared by BOSE (Board of School Education) in which Nousheen Jeelani Hakeem from Green Valley Educational Institute Srinagar bagged the top position in Arts stream by scoring 489 marks.
Nousheen has appeared in the November session of the 12th class examination. Noushan has not expected that she will be topping the list. “I was expecting my marks will be excellent but I was not expecting that I will come in the merit list but 1st position has come as a pleasant surprise to me.”
She said that she used to attend her classes regularly and spent 4 hours with her books in a day. “During exams, I used to spend 8 hours with studies,” she said.
Nousheen gives credit of her success mostly to her parents. “Taking humanities as a subject in Kashmir is not easy. My parents’ corporation means a lot to them. My hard work and determination during the month’s long turmoil has got me the success.”
Talking about her school she said, “Our school is very students ‘centered. My teachers have also helped me a lot.”
Nousheen has keen interest in Academics. She has interest in Political Science, Economics and Urdu Literature. “Parents force their children to read like toppers but it’s my request to other parents to set their children free and let them study as per their plans,” she said.
The 2nd position was bagged by Tasneem Kawoosa from Green Valley Educational Institute. She has got 484 out of 500 and scored 96.8%.
The BOSE has declared the positions after conducting the examination of March session. Due to uprisings, examinations were conducted in two sessions, November and March and students were given a choice to appear in any one of two sessions.
