Budgam: Random frisking and search operations have returned to the central district Budgam in the wake of prevailing situation. The locals say that the emerging situation reminds them of the situation that prevailed in the region in early 1990s.
The government forces, especially the army has erected barricades at several places to regulate vehicular movement and ensure frisking of passengers and thorough checking of the vehicles.
The army and the paramilitary forces are on the forefront in conducting the search operations and frisking in the area. “The soldiers stopped our vehicle and forced us to parade on a long distance. Our belongings were checked and identity ascertained,” driver of a passenger vehicle narrated.
“It is totally high handedness of security persons and the searches are being carried out to frighten us,” Abdul Ahad a commuter said. The authorities justify the search operations on account of putting a tab on the movement of “militants and anti-social elements”.
