Srinagar: ‘Karvan-e-Aman’ bus was halted on Monday after firing at Kaman Post along the LoC in Uri, sources said.
The bus carrying 14 passengers from Srinagar has been halted near Bandi rest house, they said adding 25 passengers were waiting to board the bus at Salamabad.
When asked about the reason of halting the bus, SHO Uri Tabrez Ahmad Khan said that they have been asked by army to halt the bus and wait. “Army informed us about some firing incident on Kaman Post last night and asked to stop the bus,” SHO said.
The ‘Karvan-e-Aman’ bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, resumed today after it was suspended last week due to International Workers’ day.
The bus could not operate last week after a communication was received from PaK authorities that due to International Workers’ day holiday the weekly service has been suspended.
The cross-LoC bus service, started on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 due to partition, to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects from both sides on travel permits, instead of international passport.
