Integrated Bee Keeping Development Centre set up

Srinagar: Integrated Bee Keeping Development Centre / Centre of Excellence in Bee Keeping  has been launched at Shalimar Campus jointly by Dr. S.K. Malhotra, Commissioner Agriculture  and Horticulture, Government of India and Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir at Shalimar Campus in presence of Dr. B.L. Sarawat, Executive Director, National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI and university Directors and Dean and scientists of the Poolination Centre.
Integrated Bee Keeping Development Centre / Centre of Excellence in Bee Keeping  is funded by National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI.
While speaking on the occsion, Dr. Malhotra appreciated the efforts put in by the scientists and staff of Research and Training Centre for Polliniser, Pollinators and Pollination Management of this university which  enabled the university to earn this prestigious Centre of Excellence in SKUAST-K. He assured of all help to the university to further promoting the cause.
Vice-Chancellor gave brief about the Centre and thanked the National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI for considering this Centres establishment in SKUAST-Kashmir.
On the occasion, seven days training programme on” Empowerment of Tribal Women through scientific Bee keeping was also inaugurated under this project
