Militants snatch five rifles from cops in Shopian

Shopian: Militants took away five rifles from policemen guarding the district court complex in Shopian on Tuesday night.
A police official said militants entered into the guardroom of the court complex at about 10 pm and snatched five rifles from the policemen posted there. At the time of the incident three policemen were present in the room, sources said.
“There was not retaliation from the policemen,” the official said.
The militants decamped with four self-loading rifles (SLRs) and one AK-47 rifle after which all the five policemen were suspended for negligence of duty.  The police have launched an investigation and are probing the incident.
According to the official, the policemen will be also facing the departmental probe.
On Monday, militants attacked a cash van in Kulgam killing five policemen and two J&K Bank guards while taking away five rifles as well.
