Shopian: For the third time in a month, residents of Chakoora village of Shopian on Tuesday alleged army ransacked their property and damaged windowpanes of their houses.
Locals said, as soon as the army reached the village they indiscriminately started damaging property, broke windows and windowpanes of about eight houses. “Already we suffered damages and our youth were beaten. But today again army damaged our property,” a local said.
Last week army ruthlessly beat students and teachers of a seminary in the same district. Army’s Srinagar based Defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia denied the allegation army was involved in ransacking of the property.
An April 16 army had thrashed four boys and damaged windowpanes of residential houses and vehicles in the village.
