SRINAGAR: On the eve of Labour Day, the symbol of International solidarity and unity of the working class, the J&K state committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) organized a massive rally comprising of different affiliated unions and associations. The workers held red flags, banners and placards in their hands and shouted slogans for the unity and integrity of the working class while marching through different markets here.
Addressing the workers, Om Parkash, General Secretary CITU, said that working class should prepare for struggle against anti-people onslaught of the corporate-servile BJP led government. Adding that the BJP regime attacked the labour rights and their wages, including land right of the farmers, by doing away with ESI.
Sham Parshad Kesar, senior leader of CITU in J&K, said an aggressive exercise has been going on to completely alter the existing labour laws like Factory Act, Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, all wages related legislations in favour of the employers.
“The ultimate aim of the government is to push an overwhelming majority of the country’s workforce out of protection and purview of all labour laws and completely dismantle the entire labour law enforcement machinery,” he said.
He added that the working people of the country, who create GDP for the nations and generate resource for the national faced such heinous atrocious all round attacks on their right, lives and livelihood and onslaught of privatization and disinvestment of PSUs
